To the Sentinel:
My name Pedro Pablo Inga Huaringa and I am originally from Peru but living now in Dallas, Texas.
I was trying to find out about Father Francis Kennard for a long time. In 2004,
I traveled to Huarochiri for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Santa Cruz High School that Father Francis worked so hard to help to be recognized by the Peruvian Education Agency.
By the way, Father Kennard was renamed to Santa Cruz.
I was born in Huarochiri and meet him around 1955. At that time, I was about 18 years old and I was very impressed with his work, but he spoke very little Spanish.
The people liked him, but did not understand what he was trying to do; therefore we did not appreciate his efforts at that time.
Today, the people of my generation not only appreciate his work, his teaching, etc, but also that he wanted for the youngsters to have an education.
I came to United States in 1956, and lost contact until I found the information in your website.
I am sad that he died; we (Santa Cruz High School) were trying to invite him for the 50th anniversary.
What is so interesting is that he went to Indiana in Loreto where I also visited to see my sister, who is a nun and was there in 2000.
